The story follows on directly from the events in Part 2. The Temporal Investigative Department face crisis after crisis. It’s agents continue to face external threats not just from the USA’s traditional enemies. The organization must deal with direct attacks, corruption, conspiracies and misled future agents.

Past Future Perfect Description

In ‘Past Future Perfect’ the stakes have never been higher for the TID agents. Jumping in time is inherently dangerous without other threats appearing.

Conspiracies within their senior management are discovered and investigated. Why have missions been prioritized and then had calamitous outcomes? The agents do not know whether Russian Zodiac agents are still pursuing them. They now understand that past and future TID agents could also pose a threat in any timeline. Will they interfere again?

John Scott of the CIA, newly appointed to help manage TID, must navigate committee politics and deal with near rebellion from the agents. What of Carson Bridges, the current head of TID? Can he be trusted? The agents, angered, afraid, and seeking revenge, may yet confront all the management and the committee.

Sam Pellor’s fate hangs by a thread; her partner is already dead. While she is in surgery, the TID agents travel back to the recent past to uncover truths that could change everything and prove the conspiracy. Sam and her partners were completing a mission in the late 1920s. Their reports appear to have uncovered foreknowledge of stock market crashes that established the mostly hidden wealth of many connected families. Who gave them that information? Do those connections extend to the current timeline and the committee? The agents are determined to find out.

New recruits are thrown into the fray. They need to prove themselves on proper TID missions. They are tasked with observing historical assassination attempts to prove their capabilities and demonstrate to disbelieving senior management what TID can do.

Meanwhile, whispers of a rescue for Charles Foxley in 19th-century New York keep hope alive, particularly for Krista Lysander. A crazy mission is proposed to do just that. Can his friends and colleagues save Charles?

Will the future intervene again, or will past agents emerge to safeguard the wealth of conspirators? How can the agency ever return to normal operations?
